Les téléspectateurs ont suivi pendant 5 ans le quotidien de la famille Kyle. Ma Famille D’abord a débarqué sur le petit écran en 2001. En France, la comédie a été diffusée sur M6 à partir de 2003. 

 

La sitcom suivait la vie quotidienne de la famille Kyle. Les parents, Janet et Michael, ont eu leurs deux premiers enfants Claire et Junior, à l’adolescence. La petite dernière, Kady, est arrivée ensuite, sur le tard. La série familiale se déroulait dans leur maison, et principalement dans les pièces communes, le salon et la cuisine, ainsi que dans la chambre des parents, à la manière d’un huis clos, comme la série Friends. Elle mettait en scène la normalité d’un couple, les petits tracas classiques de la vie de parents, mais aussi les petits bonheurs en apparence anodins de la vie de famille. Outre les 5 membres du noyaux de la famille Kyle, plusieurs personnages secondaires et attachants gravitaient dans leur univers. Franklin, le copain de Kady surdoué, Tony, le petit ami de Claire trop poli, et Vanessa la petite amie de Junior très envahissante. Comme Modern Family quelques années plus tard, ou La Fête à la Maison dans les années 90, ce qui était au coeur de la série et qui a fait son succès, c’était l’importance du sens de la famille.

 

Que sont devenus les acteurs de Ma Famille d’abord ?

 

La série s’est achevée en 2005. Et depuis ces quelques 18 ans, les acteurs ont bien changé, vous vous en doutez. Certains ont plus ou moins arrêté la télévision et le cinéma, se tournant vers d’autres carrières. D’autres ont poursuivi avec plus ou moins de succès. Damon Wayans par exemple, le père de la famille Kyle a tenu le rôle principal de la série l’Arme Fatale, mais c’est à peu près tout. Tischa Campbell qui interprétait janet la mère de famille a eu une carrière un peu plus diversifiée, avec des rôles notamment dans The Protector, Dr Ken, Empire, ou encore Uncoupled. Tous ou presque sont devenus parents et même grands-parents pour Damon Wayans. Et oui, même  la petite Kady, Parker McKenna Posey, est devenue maman en 2021.
