Derrière ce succès retentissant, il y a la griffe de Kgaogelo Moagi aka Master KG, un chanteur et producteur sud-africain de musique électronique, qui s’était révélé au public africain avec son opus Skeleton move, qui lui a valu une nomination pour le prix AFRIMMA du meilleur artiste d’électro en 2018. Faiseur de tendance, il est considéré comme le pionnier d’un style de danse baptisé Balobedu, qui est inspiré des traditions de son pays.
Mais la plus belle histoire derrière « Jerusalema », c’est celle de Nomcebo Zikode, une chanteuse gospel sud-africaine, qui a été sollicitée par Master KG pour la réalisation du single. Alors qu’elle traversait une période de doute, la musicienne a écrit une prière pour implorer le pardon et la protection de Dieu, qu’elle a posée sur le beat spirituel de « Jerusalema », avec sa voix singulière et chaleureuse.
Le message du duo est allé au-delà des frontières de la nation arc-en-ciel, pour atteindre des sommets que ni Master KG, ni Nomcebo n’espéraient.
Figurez-vous que « Jerusalema » a été apprécié et partagé sur les réseaux sociaux, par des célébrités comme Janet Jackson ou encore Cristiano Ronaldo.
