Fondée en 2013, la MIAF a été un catalyseur du développement des industries culturelles et créatives (ICC) africaines en favorisant l’échange d’informations et la découverte de talents.
Ayant eu lieu aux studios AMPD situés au cœur de Johannesburg, l’événement a réuni des artistes estimés, des leaders de l’industrie et des passionnés de musique désireux de commémorer le parcours remarquable de la MIAF.
L’événement a accueilli des discours inspirants du directeur exécutif de la MIAF, Eddie Hatitye, du chef de projet senior de Siemens Stiftung et membre du conseil d’administration du MIAF, Jens Cording , ainsi que du directeur du Goethe-Institut pour l’Afrique subsaharienne, Dr Andreas Ströhl. Un panel avec Hatitye, le directeur d’IKS Cultural Consulting Andre Le Roux , la chanteuse Spha Mdlalose , le PDG de Matchbox Live Theresho Selesho et la directrice des opérations d’AMPD Studio Nosisi Ngakane a également eu lieu. Ces derniers ont échangé sur l’état des ICC en Afrique et plus particulierement le secteur musical.
La véritable essence de l’événement résidait dans les performances électrisantes live de la chanteuse jazz Spha Mdlalose ainsi que de IzangoMa, l’ensemble expérimental de 15 musiciens accompagnant Sibusile Xaba. Les mélodies captivantes des deux actes ont transporté le public dans un voyage émouvant à travers les divers sons de l’Afrique. Spha Mdlalose, avec sa voix puissante et ses sons émouvants, a présenté l’essence du jazz africain, tandis qu’IzangoMa a hypnotisé la foule avec une fusion de rythmes traditionnels et de sons contemporains. Les performances ont témoigné du talent extraordinaire que l’Afrique a à offrir et du rôle de la MIAF dans l’accompagnement de ces artistes vers une reconnaissance mondiale.
