Sept ans après son discours de la Sorbonne, Emmanuel Macron appelle à une Europe de “puissance”, “prospérité” et “humanisme”le chef de l’Etat est revenu sur les avancées du projet européen depuis le discours sur l’Europe qu’il y avait tenu en 2017. Mais il s’est surtout projeté vers l’avenir de l’Union européenne, avec un plan articulé autour de trois axes : puissance, prospérité et humanisme.“Renouer le fil de nos accomplissements et parler de notre avenir”. Tel était l’objectif du discours sur l’Europe d’Emmanuel Macron, prononcé jeudi 25 avril à l’Université de la Sorbonne, à Paris. Un lieu qu’il est loin d’avoir choisi au hasard : en septembre 2017, il y prononçait déjà un discours portant sur ses ambitions pour l’Union européenne, dont le maître-mot était la “souveraineté européenne”.
Depuis sept ans, de nombreux événements ont marqué le Vieux Continent. Brexit, pandémie de Covid-19, guerre en Ukraine… Les crises se sont enchaînées, appelant l’UE à réagir. A six semaines des élections européennes du 6 au 9 juin, qui seront déterminantes pour l’avenir de l’Europe, Emmanuel Macron tenait donc à dresser le bilan des sept années écoulées. Et surtout à se projeter une nouvelle fois vers le futur de l’UE, à l’aune des changements profonds connus par l’Europe et le monde. “Nous devons être lucides sur le fait que notre Europe, aujourd’hui, est mortelle. Elle peut mourir. Elle peut mourir, et cela dépend uniquement de nos choix”, a-t-il mis en garde.
